I used 4 stale hamburger buns and the following amounts:
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoonsÂ vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons powdered coffee granules
- 2 tablespoons chocolate pellets
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups sugar
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees. Cut your buns in half and place crust down in an oven dish.
Mix all your ingredients in a bowl.
Pour over the bread and then mash down with your fingers until the bread is thoroughly soaked. The ‘slices’ may break down a little bit at this point, which is desirable and helps with the absorption and later for the presentation and serving. However don’t completely mash it into a pulp whilst doing this.
Bake for about 40 minutes until the edges start to brown and batter is completely set. Serve hot or cold.
