I got this idea from here and was very pleased with the result. Simple, tasty and a great ’emergency’ starter when you’re stuck for ideas (why should you be? I have loads of ideas in here:))

How to make these:

– Preheat the oven to about 150 degrees Celsius

– Cut off the last few centimetres of your asparagus spears (this part is usually too tough to eat)

– Divide into batches of 4 or 5 spears

– Brush with olive oil and grind some pepper on top

– Wrap a rasher of bacon (or more than one if desired) around the spears, removing the rind if necessary

– Place in an oven dish. Repeat the process until you run out of asparagus or bacon or until you’ve made enough 🙂

– Cook for about 20 minutes or until asparagus starts to brown ever-so-slightly

– Serve hot or cold

    Yum. I also love same recipe with prosciutto (prosciutto warmed just enough to make the fat bubbly).

      I am trying this with prosciutto or parma ham next time.. mmmmhhh
